Highlights: In 1991 a record 14,112 Alzheimer’s deaths were reported in the United States, 13,768 of which were to persons 65 years of age and older. Alzheimer’s disease would have been the 11th leading cause of death for individuals 65 years of age and older if it were separately identified in the standard tabulation list used to rank leading causes. Network Time Protocol (Version 2) Specification and Implementation

By: David L. Mills

Technical Reference Publication

Introduction: This document constitutes a formal specification of the Network Time Protocol (NTP), which is used to synchronize timekeeping among a set of distributed time servers and clients. It defines the architectures, algorithms, entities and protocols used by NTP and is intended primarily for implementors. A companion document [44] summarizes the requirements, analytical models, algorithmic analysis and performance under typical Internet conditions. NTP was first d...

Internet Time Synchronization : The Network Time Protocol

By: D. L. Mills

Technical Reference Publication

Abstract: This memo describes the Network Time Protocol (NTP) designed to distribute time information in a large, diverse internet system operating at speeds from mundane to lightwave. It uses a returnabletime architecture in which a distributed subnet of time servers operating in a self-organizing, hierarchical, master-slave configuration synchronizes local clocks within the subnet and to national time standards via wire or radio. The servers can also redistribute time ...

By: David L. Mills

Technical Reference Publication

Abstract: This document describes the Network Time Protocol (NTP), specifies its formal structure and summarizes information useful for its implementation. NTP provides the mechanisms to synchronize time and coordinate time distribution in a large, diverse internet operating at rates from mundane to lightwave. It uses a returnable-time design in which a distributed subnet of time servers operating in a self-organizing, hierarchical-master-slave configuration synchronizes...

Information Technology Laboratory0

By: Sharon S. Keller

Technical Reference Publication

Introduction: This publication specifies the various tests required to validate implementations under test (IUTs) for conformance to the DES and Skipjack algorithms. When applied to IUTs of the DES algorithm, the Modes of Operation Validation System (MOVS) provides conformance testing for the various components of the algorithm, as well as testing for apparent operational errors. The MOVS is also used to test for apparent operational errors in IUTs of the Skipjack algorithm.
