Excerpt
Introduction: A variety of approaches and strategies have been developed to meet the changing requirements of development evaluation. Interventions may be implemented in a variety of different locations and may be implemented differently to meet local requirements. To meet the demands for fast, flexible and participatory evaluations, approaches are being used that are somewhat different than traditional program evaluation. These approaches still require the same planning steps in terms of defining evaluation questions, identifying measures, collecting and analyzing data, and reporting and using findings. Evaluability Assessment: Evaluability assessment is a brief preliminary study to determine whether an evaluation would be useful and feasible. This type of preliminary study can also help define the purpose of the evaluation, identify what data resources are currently available and accessible, identify key stakeholders and clarify their information needs, and consider different methods for conducting the evaluation. This can save time and help avoid mistakes.
