MISSION STATEMENT: ELIMINATE LEAD AS A HEALTH HAZARD FOR VIRGINIA CHILDREN BY 2010. -- Eliminate: A statewide annual prevalence of less than or equal to 1% of children under the age of six with blood lead levels greater than or equal to 10 ug/dL. -- Health Hazard: Causative agent of lead poisoning to include primarily lead paint and lead paint dust, but also to include other vehicles as discovered. -- Children: Children are defined as those under the age of six years (72 months); however, the major focus will be on children under three years (36 months) of age.
