Excerpt
Excerpt: In its statement of July 29, 1967 the Council of -ne Federation of American Scientists dealt only with the question of classified research and secrecy in the university. In the present statement the Council deals with the more general question of which kinds of research practices a-e inappropriate and incompatible with the traditional purposes of the university, even if the research itself is non-secret. We shall identify several types of practices which tend to subvert the traditional role of the university.
