The method used in this study to classify individuals as extreme poor, poor, or non-poor is the following: (i) rank individuals according to their level of welfare, as measured by their consumption; (ii) calculate the value of a general poverty line and extreme poverty line; and (iii) identify individuals whose consumption levels are below these lines.
