INTRODUCTION En 1957, etaient rangees dans les myocardiopathies ( I ) un groupe de maladies du myocarde d'etiologe inconnue ou obscure et ne resultant pas d'une maladie coronarienne; mais depuis cette epoque, la description de ces maladies a kt6 modifite B maintes reprises au fil des ans. Des definitions fort variables en ont etC donntes, comme en tkmoignent les deux exemples suivants: ((trouble aigu, subaigu ou chronique du myocarde, interessant souvent l'endocarde ou le ptricarde, d'itiologie inconnue ou inhabituelle, mais non secondaire B une deformation structurale du caeur ni a une hypertension generale ou pulmonaire ni a un atherome coronarien)) (2) et ((maladies du myocarde d'ktiologie inconnue)r (3). C'est cette dernikre definition qui est retenue dans le present Rapport.
