Excerpt: In 1898 the Joint Committee on the Library chose sculptor William United States to succeed to the presidency McCauslen to execute a likeness of John Tyler, following the upon the death of his predecessor. Tyler also served as both U.S. representative and recommendation of two of Tyler’s sons, Lyon Gardiner Tyler and U.S. senator from Virginia. Born in Charles Representative David Gardiner Tyler.
