Description
Demons of Druid Oaks combines a ghost story and complex historical mystery with an exploration of the troubled relationship between a father and son and the rocky friendship between a privileged aristocrat and caretaker's son.

Summary
Ever since 14-year-old Leslie McClairkin and his recovering alcoholic father moved into the primitive caretaker's cottage in Druid Oaks Cemetery, disturbing things have been happening. Nothing is what it seems, and there are just too many unanswered questions. Why has no caretaker ever stayed for long? Why does the ghost of the hollow-eyed man keep reappearing, each time more urgently? What is the frightening secret kept by Leslie's new friend Rodney Thistleton, III - a mysterious and moody young aristocrat who fences like a Renaissance master and longs for a different century? soon, Leslie and Rodney find themselves joining forces to solve a terrifying mystery and prevent an ancient and demonic power from being unleashed on the world.

Excerpt
Leslie stared at the empty grave for a few seconds, and then looked at Sam. His father’s thick work boots and the knees of his old pants were smeared with mud, and his fingernails were outlined with dark grime. Was this the same man who used to wear a tie and sit in an elegant office filling out crisp white forms for people in business suits? “Doesn’t it bother you at all to be digging graves for people?” There was bitterness in Leslie’s tone. “Why should it?” Sam looked at Leslie squarely, almost defiantly. “Everyone on this planet dies sooner or later—it’s just the flip side of being born. I doubt if it would bother you if I delivered babies for a living.”
